Job Summary: This role focuses on delivering patient and family-centered nursing education within a supportive environment that champions best practices and exceptional customer service. The nurse educator fosters relationship-based care while upholding professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, Nursing Process, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Manage departmental fiscal health by collaborating on education budgets and ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Optimize scheduling to meet patient education needs, maintain accurate documentation, and fulfill teaching duties within designated timeframes.
• Stay current with educational materials and practice updates to promote cost-effective care.
• Develop, tailor, and evaluate individualized teaching plans using evidence-based practices and standards to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, multitasking, and thorough documentation, including during critical events.
• Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives such as data gathering, audits, research, and education to enhance nursing practice.
• Ensure patient satisfaction by assessing readiness to learn, adapting teaching methods to patient needs and stages, and supporting coping strategies with professionalism.
• Represent the healthcare organization positively at community and sponsored events.
• Promote patient safety through education on safe practices, medication management, and compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Report and follow up on patient events, near misses, and participate in safety culture initiatives.
• Commit to professional growth by pursuing ongoing education, certifications, and leadership opportunities.
• Provide excellent customer service by fostering ethical, collegial relationships and effective communication across departments and with patients.
• Serve as a public education resource, coordinating outpatient program information and collaborating with marketing and physicians to support community education efforts.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution is required.
• Minimum of 2 years hospital nursing experience.
• Proficiency with computer systems is necessary.
• Area-specific education may be required and maintained upon hire.

Licensure and Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license as per state board requirements.
• Certified Diabetes Educator credential preferred for diabetes-focused roles.

Work Shift: Day shift in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
