Qualifications:

• Current Special Education certification for South Carolina (SPED)
• Experience working with students with severe disabilities, preferably in a self-contained environment
• Familiarity with developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with caregivers, staff, and related service professionals
• Strong classroom management abilities and a passion for inclusive, supportive education

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction aligned to each student’s IEP, adapting curriculum and teaching methods as needed
• Maintain accurate records, tracking student progress and behaviors to inform instruction and communicate with the IEP team
• Foster independence and life skills development for students with varying academic and functional abilities
• Cooperate with general education teachers, therapists, and administrators to facilitate student access to a broad spectrum of educational experiences and therapies
• Create a safe, positive, and structured learning atmosphere tailored to the needs of students with severe disabilities
• Actively participate in IEP meetings and contribute to collaborative planning for student success
• Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding student achievement, progress, and support needs
