Qualifications:

• Valid South Carolina Special Education certification (SPED)
• Experience teaching students with severe disabilities preferred
• Strong commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
• Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction for students in a self-contained severe disabilities classroom
• Craft and implement lesson plans tailored to students’ IEPs and developmental levels
• Adapt teaching strategies and curriculum materials, meeting a range of student abilities
• Track and document progress toward IEP goals; report on academic, behavioral, and life-skills advancement
• Support students’ growth in functional skills and foster independence
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers
• Participate in IEP meetings, providing input and ensuring successful implementation of student plans
• Communicate regularly with families and staff, providing updates and guidance
• Maintain a safe, organized, and supportive classroom environment
