Our customer in Rockford, Illinois, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced professional to join their team. We’re recruiting a Payroll Specialist to work full-time on 1st shift. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring payroll is processed accurately and timely while supporting accounts payable functions and maintaining payroll-related records and reporting.

Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist

• Process payroll accurately and timely, including employee hours, taxes, deductions, benefits, and wage adjustments.
• Review payroll records, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, transfers, leave pay, and non-taxable wages.
• Prepare payroll-related reports, account reconciliations, W-2s, and month-end payroll reporting.
• Issue paychecks and support year-end payroll processing activities.
• Code, track, and submit accounts payable invoices for processing.
• Perform data entry, filing, and recordkeeping functions.
• Support payroll and accounting operations while maintaining confidentiality of employee information.
• Complete additional administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited college or university preferred; equivalent combination of education and related experience will be considered.
• Minimum of three years of payroll experience required.
• Strong understanding of payroll processing, payroll taxes, and employee benefits administration.
• Experience with account reconciliations and payroll reporting.
• Knowledge of accounts payable processes and invoice coding.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information.
• Proficiency with computer systems, spreadsheets, and payroll software.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Pay for Payroll Specialist: Starting at $24-28/hour.
