Senior Staff Accountant - Candidate Requirements:
Accountant or Tax Practitioner with at least seven years of experience in either the Public or Private sectors.
Must have experience in the preparation and review of business tax compliance filings. Must be familiar with various accounting and tax software programs. Prior experience must involve business account set up and establishment of accounts, maintenance and execution of compliance filings and research of compliance filing requirements. Must be detail oriented, knowledgeable and resourceful.
Daily tasks will vary and candidate must be able to transition regularly among client accounts and tasks. Strong communication skills are necessary for daily interaction with managers, staff, tax authorities, third party providers and clients.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:
Preparation/review of compliance tax filings to include but not limited to the following:
• Payroll Tax Returns (W3/W2s, and numerous state filings)
• Sales and Use Tax Returns
• Commercial Rent Tax Returns
• Business Registration Renewals
• Fuel Tax
• NYC RPIE
• Monitor Tax Compliance Board for all firm clients
• Independent Contractor filings
• Census Forms

Business Formation and Closures to include but not limited to the following:
• Business Registration
• Application for EIN
• State Incorporation and registrations
• Vendor Registration
• Employer Registration
• Payroll set up / Hiring Process
• Business licenses

Business Start Up of Accounting Systems to include but not limited to the following:
• Set up accounting software program for new business (or transfer of existing business) *QuickBooks is most commonly used application although other programs will be utilized
• Establish Chart of Accounts
• Software Conversions
• Client Support and Training of accounting programs
• Invoice Templates

Research and Studies to include but not limited to the following:
• Economic Nexus Studies for sales and use tax and business registration requirements
• Publish memorandum on research and findings
• Letters of instruction to clients and third parties (i.e. States, Payroll provider)

Computer Skills:
• QuickBooks
• CCH Prosystem fx
• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft Word
• Microsoft Outlook

Additional Experience Requirements:
• Experience in maintaining financial statements for a variety of clientele
• Understanding of basic tax concepts related to entity classifications and filings
