Fund Accounting and Operations Manager

About the Company

A publicly traded alternative investment platform is seeking an experienced accounting and operations professional to support the financial reporting, governance, and operational oversight of a registered investment vehicle focused on middle-market lending strategies. This position offers broad exposure to fund accounting, regulatory reporting, portfolio oversight, compliance, and third-party service provider management.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting and operational activities for an investment fund, ensuring accurate financial reporting and adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Manage quarterly and year-end close processes, including review of financial records, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Oversee relationships with external administrators, custodians, auditors, and other service providers to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
• Coordinate the preparation and review of SEC filings and shareholder reporting documents.
• Support annual and quarterly audit engagements, including audit planning, documentation requests, and issue resolution.
• Assist with internal control monitoring, governance initiatives, and compliance-related reporting requirements.
• Partner with third-party internal audit providers to facilitate testing activities and remediation efforts when necessary.
• Review compliance reporting and support regulatory examinations and inquiries.
• Analyze portfolio activity, fund performance, and operational metrics to provide insights for executive leadership.
• Participate in special projects involving process improvements, reporting enhancements, and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
• Approximately 5–8 years of experience within investment management, registered funds, business development companies, private credit, or similar financial services environments.
• Strong understanding of SEC reporting requirements, investment company accounting, and fund operations.
• Experience with fair value measurement principles and complex investment portfolios.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while coordinating across internal teams and external vendors.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Prior experience with a major public accounting firm, preferably at the manager level or higher.
• Combination of public accounting and asset management industry experience.
• Familiarity with portfolio accounting and investment management platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modeling capabilities.
• Experience supporting publicly registered investment vehicles or alternative credit funds.
