Billing Specialist - 100% Remote for candidate with Deltek Software experience
About the Role
This position serves as a core billing professional for a growing government contractor. Reporting to accounting and finance leadership, the Billing Specialist is responsible for preparing, formatting, and submitting high-volume, complex contract invoices for state and local government entities.


This position operates 100% remotely for qualified candidates proficient in required ERP systems, provided they can maintain standard Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.
Key Responsibilities

• Government Billing & Invoicing: Prepare and submit complex state and local government contract invoices in strict accordance with contract requirements and agency-specific submission guidelines.
  
  
• Documentation & Verification: Compile and audit supporting documentation, including timecards, expense backup, and special agency forms, ensuring all expenses meet contract compliance standards.
  
  
• Data Reconciliations: Format, review, and reconcile multi-page invoice packages (100-200+ pages) utilizing advanced Microsoft Excel functions.
  
  
• ERP System Maintenance: Maintain invoice records, contract modifications, and billing histories within Deltek Vantagepoint/Vision.
  
  
• Task Management & Resolution: Prioritize daily invoicing tasks to clear billing backlogs and meet tight agency submission deadlines; research and resolve billing discrepancies proactively.
  
  
• Audit Support & Reporting: Compile invoice backup documentation for internal and external audits; generate reporting on billing status, collection metrics, and project funding utilization for leadership.
  
  

• 2+ years of hands-on billing and invoicing experience within a government contracting environment.
  
  
• Direct working knowledge and proficiency with Deltek Vantagepoint or Deltek Vision ERP software.
  
  
• Solid proficiency in Microsoft Excel for auditing and formatting complex billing spreadsheets.
  
  
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening.
  
  
• Schedule requirement: Must be able to work standard Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.
  
  

• Experience with state department of transportation billing requirements.
  
  
• Candidates with senior-level billing experience, including billing team leads or billing managers, are strongly encouraged to apply.
  
  

• Annual Base Salary: $60,000 - $72,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
  
  
• Work Location: 100% Remote (for candidates with required government billing and Deltek experience)
