Location: Indianapolis, IN - On site
Employment Type: Full-time
Experience Required: 2–4 years
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required; Accounting-degreed candidates only)

Position Summary

Our Indianapolis-area client is seeking a Staff Accountant with 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. The ideal candidate will own or significantly support core general ledger activities, month-end close processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting in a hands-on role. This is a solid mid-level staff position for someone ready to take ownership of accounts and processes with moderate supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries (recurring and non-recurring), including accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets.

  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items timely.

  • Assist with or own portions of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process.

  • Support preparation of financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.

  • Maintain fixed asset registers and calculate depreciation as needed.

  • Assist with audit support (internal and/or external) by preparing schedules and documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.

  • Collaborate with AP/AR, payroll, and other departments as needed.

  • Participate in process improvement and documentation of procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Accounting-degreed candidates only).

  • 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience (staff-level or equivalent in public or industry accounting).

  • Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.

  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).

  • Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations.

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a month-end close environment.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Professional communication skills.
