Strategic Account Manager

Job Summary In this position, you will play a key role on the Corporate Strategic Account team. You will build and maintain personal relationships with key contacts, client organizations, vendors, and strategic partners. The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth and long‑term value within a defined set of key accounts. The SAM builds deep customer relationships, develops and executes strategic account plans, and orchestrates internal resources to expand share of wallet and deliver differentiated value. The role works in close partnership with local sales teams and combines strategic leadership with strong field execution to ensure a consistent and effective customer experience. Major Responsibilities Build and maintain long‑term relationships with key contacts, client organizations, vendors, and strategic partners. Actively build a personal network through deep customer engagement. Keep informed of clients’ present and future plans for growth, projects, and programmatic and technical requirements. Develop and maintain 3‑year strategic account plans. Develop and coordinate sales strategies with clearly defined objectives, actions, and milestones. Collaborate cross‑functionally with extended sales teams, marketing, engineering, product management, procurement, and operations to align solutions and maximize integrated selling. Demonstrate how Chemelex aids its clients in achieving objectives through personal knowledge and support from Chemelex personnel. Develop bid and proposal strategies, recommend teaming requirements, and implement win‑plan recommendations. Set the storyline for proposals and actively manage their development. Maintain tracking and reporting through Chemelex CRM tools. Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and reports to ensure client satisfaction, support retention, and drive growth. Stay informed on market trends, competitive activity, and emerging technologies to develop informed strategy. Actively participate in industry and trade associations. Required Knowledge and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field preferred. 8–10+ years of relevant experience. Experience in industrial markets such as Oil & Gas, Alternative Fuels, Chemicals, Power, Metals & Mining, Semiconductor, Food & Beverage, Pharmaceuticals. Familiarity with Lump Sum, Cost Reimbursable, Target Cost, and Guaranteed Maximum Price commercial models for industrial and manufacturing projects. Established client relationships within the industry preferred. Ability to grow and maintain executive‑level relationships. Persuasive communication and presentation skills. Ability to connect and coordinate across Chemelex, our clients, our supply chain, and our strategic partnerships. Ability to think on your feet and showcase agility in front of clients and senior executives. Client‑centric approach and philosophy to developing business. Long‑term relationships over short‑term opportunity mindset. Strong financial acumen and understanding the complexities of large‑scale capital and maintenance, repair & improvement projects.
