POSITION: BUILDING SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

REPORTS TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL

As a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools you will be expected to provide rigorous instruction to the diverse population of students in your classroom. You will be expected to align your teaching to the district and state curriculum; to regularly assess students for learning comprehension and to modify your teaching to ensure that students are learning; to provide a classroom that is conducive to the learning needs of all students, especially students who are learning English and students with disabilities. Accountability Objective This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards and the rules and regulations of the Worcester Public Schools. Building substitutes support the work of the building and will be given daily assignments by the building principal. The assignments will vary and can include assignments to cover any classroom or grade level at the school. The assignments can also include duties (lunch, recess, hall, dismissal, etc.) and/or covering for instructional assistants. Principal Responsibilities Commit to remaining in the position for the complete school year Commit to reporting to work on time and for complete work days Commit to learning the rules and procedures of the district and the school; and, following and enforcing them Work at the direction of the building principal and accept a variety of assignments Interact with students, colleagues, and families in a professional and respectful manner Supervise students.
