We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join a team in Birmingham, Alabama. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and working across both payables and receivables. The role will contribute to timely transaction processing, account balancing, and dependable financial administration in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Process vendor invoices, assign appropriate coding, and prepare payments with close attention to accuracy and deadlines.

• Manage customer billing activity, record incoming payments, and follow up on outstanding balances as needed.

• Reconcile bank statements and internal financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.

• Maintain organized accounting documentation and update financial data within QuickBooks and related systems.

• Assist with routine payroll-related accounting support and ensure information is entered correctly for processing.

• Review account activity, investigate variances, and communicate issues to the appropriate internal stakeholders.

• Support month-end administrative accounting tasks by preparing reports and confirming transaction completeness.

• Prior experience handling both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Working knowledge of bank reconciliation practices and general accounting procedures.
• Hands-on experience using QuickBooks in a business setting.
• Ability to code invoices accurately and maintain detailed financial records.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Proficiency with basic accounting systems and standard office software.
• Clear communication skills and a dependable, team-oriented work style.
