Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN)

Performs the primary functions of an LPN in assisting with assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of all patients, regardless of age, during his/her shift. Responsible for meeting the established standards of skilled nursing practice. Professional Graduate Practical Nurse collaborates with the care team, participates in interdisciplinary care, and advocates for patients. Roles and Responsibilities Demonstrates time management, critical thinking, delegation, and prioritization. Gathering data, monitoring, recording, and reporting changes in patient condition. Advocates for patient. Practices ethically and professionally within scope. Maintains clinical competence specific to care area and completes required education within stated timeframe. Coordinates care with interdisciplinary team. Communicates effectively. Documents appropriately and thoroughly in EMR. Promotes evidence‑based practice and best practices related to patient care. Participates in unit councils and staff meetings. Required Skills and Experience Graduate of a Nursing Program. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Certification as required for care area. May include CPR/BLS, ACLS, PALS, specialty certification recommended. Preferred Skills and Experience Prior patient care and customer service experience preferred. Physical Requirements May require lifting up to 50 lbs.; sitting or standing for long periods; must be able to physically operate equipment required for the job.
