Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of current specialty experience required License: Valid registered nurse license required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required Must-Have: - Epic charting experience required - Oncology experience preferred but not required Description: This position involves working in a medical-surgical/telemetry unit within a corrections environment. It requires floating to various units as needed. The nurse will ensure staff safety in a secure environment. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed. The nurse will work with patients who have active oncology diagnoses, history of cancer, and non-oncology conditions. Primary responsibilities include cardiac monitoring and emergency response, administration of medications, and management of IV therapy. The nurse will be responsible for the interpretation of dysrhythmias and managing hemodialysis and respiratory needs. Skills in managing feeding tubes, central and peripheral line care, and PCA administration are essential. Patients may have diagnoses including solid tumors, hematologic conditions, COPD, and sepsis, among others. The role supports interdisciplinary collaboration with pharmacy, physical therapy, and other services. All candidates must be aware of the urgency of the fingerprinting process required for this position. Participants are encouraged to complete any required credentialing as promptly as possible.
