Trusts & Estates Associate (San Francisco) The Los Angeles office of JMM seeks a Trusts & Estates attorney with 10 or more years of experience to join our Taxation, Trusts & Estates Department. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in trust administration and sophisticated estate planning solutions for high net worth individuals and families. Significant experience in drafting estate planning documents, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, is required. Excellent academic credentials, as well as strong written, interpersonal and communication skills, are required. Large firm experience and an LL.M. in Taxation are preferred. Admission to the State Bar of California is required. JMM reasonably expects to pay between $275k and $325k in annual base compensation for this position. The base compensation offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the selected candidate’s qualifications and years of relevant experience. Additionally, associates who meet JMM’s minimum performance standards (including billing at least 1900 hours), can reasonably expect total compensation (base salary plus a discretionary bonus) of $475k. The discretionary bonus may also be increased based on the number of hours billed and collected in excess of 1900 hours. Separately, the Firm credits associates with an additional bonus on work they originate. Environment, Land Use Associate (San Francisco) JMM seeks an associate with 5 or more years of experience in land use or environmental matters to join our Government, Land Use, Environment and Energy (GLUEE) Department. This associate will work on a wide range of regulatory, administrative, transactional, and litigation matters relating to the development of land and natural resources, and in the specific subject matter areas of project development, CEQA and NEPA, public lands and mining, air, water, and energy. Prior experience in land use or environmental law is required. Experience in land use litigation (writ of mandate) and public lands is preferred. Experience in real estate transactions also preferred. Excellent academic credentials and admission to the State Bar of California are required. JMM reasonably expects to pay between $260k and $275k in annual base compensation for this position. The base compensation offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the selected candidate’s qualifications and years of relevant experience. Additionally, associates who meet JMM’s minimum performance standards (including billing at least 1900 hours), can reasonably expect total compensation (base salary plus a discretionary bonus) ranging from $425k to $475k. The discretionary bonus may also be increased based on the number of hours billed and collected in excess of 1900 hours. Separately, the Firm credits associates with an additional bonus on work they originate. Litigation Associate (Los Angeles) The Los Angeles office of JMM is seeking an associate with 4 or more years of broad-based litigation experience to join our Litigation Department. Candidates should have excellent research, analytical and drafting skills, consistent attention to detail, and strong verbal and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will also have experience arguing motions, taking and defending depositions, and preparing cases for trial. Candidates should also have specific litigation experience on commercial litigation issues, including breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, and/or breach of fiduciary duty. Additional experience in real estate, land use, trusts and estates, and intellectual property litigation is highly desirable. A strong academic record and admission to the California Bar are required. JMM reasonably expects to pay between $270k and $325k in annual base compensation for this position. The base compensation offered will depend upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the selected candidate’s qualifications and years of relevant experience. Additionally, associates who meet JMM’s minimum performance standards (including billing at least 1900 hours), can reasonably expect a discretionary bonus. The discretionary bonus may be increased based on the number of hours billed and collected in excess of 1900 hours.
