Practice Manager Job #: req37201 Organization: World Bank Sector: Governance Grade: GH Term Duration: 4 years Recruitment Type: International Recruitment Location: Washington D.C., United States Required Language(s): English, Spanish Closing Date: 6/30/2026 at 11:59pm UTC Unit Context The Financial Management (FM) unit of the GGP in LAC carries out high‑quality financial management services for Bank‑financed operations, supports development of professional accountancy institutions, and corporate financial reporting performance. Duties and Responsibilities Manage a team responsible for the financial management of the WB portfolio in LAC and advise client governments. Oversee the unit program/portfolio of FM operational services delivery for the entire region. Develop and provide direction to FM team members to resolve country portfolio/work program issues and deliver on‑time, high‑quality services. Provide strategic leadership for governance‑related analytical work and core ASA (e.g., SCDs, PERs, CPFs, CEMs) and extended ASAs (e.g., fiduciary reviews, ROSCs). Lead and support the team’s dialogue with external counterparts, other multilaterals, donor community, private sector entities, government officials, and civil society. Provide strategic guidance for the organization of learning and outreach events and programs. Build high‑performing teams, manage staff performance, mentor staff, manage workloads, and balance resources. Participate in budget planning and management for portfolio operational services. Foster collaboration among team members and with Prosperity teams, and find integrative governance solutions. Support innovation in Governance work and contribute to global conversations on fiduciary assurance. Collaborate with other PMs and PLs in the GP and with other GPs to design tailored solutions for complex project implementation. Inspire technical excellence and create a learning environment that attracts and develops talent. Support GP management in developing and implementing strategies for staffing, deployment, talent and performance management. Collaborate across technical, geographic and institutional boundaries to deliver development solutions and share knowledge globally. Selection Criteria Master’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 12 years relevant professional experience. A qualified professional accountant (CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent). Robust experience and demonstrated technical knowledge in the use of country PFM systems for projects and corporate financial reporting. Proven ability to balance fiduciary oversight mandate with institutional strengthening and capacity building. Strong knowledge of international financial reporting and auditing standards and their implementation. Excellent leadership and supervisory skills with managing multi‑location and virtual teams. Strong sense of strategy, prioritizing and rationalizing product offerings. Good partnership experience, involving multiple stakeholders in collaborative alliances.
