Senior Human Resources Generalist

SALARY:External Candidates: $52.00/Hour - $53.00/HourInternal Candidates: $52.00/Hour - $53.00/Hour Based on LongevityPOSITION SUMMARYReporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Senior HR Generalist serves as a key point of contact, as part of a team of HR professionals, for complex employee relations and human resources administration processes, monitoring the full employment cycle for an assigned client group.Working from a solutions-focused and compliance-minded framework, the position holds a depth of knowledge in the Human Resources field, maintaining an up-to-date understanding of local, state and federal regulatory labor law as well as internal policies and Union labor contract.This role demonstrates strong collaborative partnerships with all stakeholders and works to resolve conflicts and maintain a positive, safe and productive relationship inside the department and across the organization. The role demonstrates enthusiasm and warmth in greeting, assisting, supporting and fielding all staff requests no matter how big or small. This is an on-site customer-centric position working in our HR offices that fosters a welcoming environment for staff, consistent with our open-door policy.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCommunicate effectively and model integrity, fairness, and ethical business practices.Works collaboratively with Sr. HR leadership to find solutions to complex, nuanced HR issues while maintaining impeccable confidentiality, diplomacy and tact.Moves quickly to address employee relations concerns by providing consult to middle and senior management on employee policies, Union labor contract and statutory compliance for all aspects of employment.Advise fellow HR team members on compliance matters and provides hands-on systems support to ensure all recordkeeping measures, onboarding/off boarding, leave of absence and ADA reasonable accommodation requests are managed according to the highest level of quality control.Serves as the primary onboarding/off-boarding facilitator, for their client group, meeting with staff and performing necessary data entry and forms processing so that timely payroll and HRIS processes are maintained.Leans into curiosity and compassion while conducting thorough employee investigations on complex performance issues, always preserving evidence, and making appropriate, timely recommendations for next step actions, including terminations.Prepares well-written, thorough, and articulate termination summaries with minimal supervision. Accepts critical feedback on all regulatory and legal compliance matters to expedite approvals from legal counsel and executive leadership on adverse employment actions.Supports employees and program/department leadership providing timely, thoughtful responses on questions regarding policies, procedures, and union work rules.Advises program/department leadership on necessary steps for progressive discipline reports. Reviews, edits, and finalizes progressive discipline reports provided by program/department leadership, collecting signed forms and submitting to labor union for recordkeeping. Participates in disciplinary meetings as needed.Support the HR Open Door Policy by providing support to staff who visit the HR office.Ensures adherence to all recordkeeping compliance requirements including I-9, EEO-1, employee records maintenance and file keeping with a focus on the highest measures of confidentiality. Monitors employee acknowledgements as policies and procedures are updated, sending out and collecting electronic and wet signatures as needed.Maintains employee records both HRIS and hard copy, responding to verifications of employment, EDD and other record requests as needed.Leads interactive ADA and other reasonable accommodation requests, providing sound recommendations to be approved by Sr. HR leadership.Provide back-up support when HR colleagues take time off.Monitor and process job requisitions in a timely and consistent manner.Creatively post all openings internally and externally.Source and screen resumes through all sources.Monitor and process all internal candidates.Build relationships and establish new recruitment sources to create a networking group of community contacts and organizations to establish a well-rounded, diverse recruitment program.Work with Program Directors and Hiring Managers to schedule, coordinate and participate in interviews, including making recommendations.Assess employment needs, generate correspondence, and compile recruitment assessments and reports.Increase applicant flow with an emphasis on diversity.Utilize the ATS to monitor, evaluate, and make recommendations to improve the time it takes to fill positions from requisition to hire.Attend job fairs and visit a variety of organizations.Create interview packets and make recommendations to edit interview questions, as necessary.Back-up to other Human Resources functions, as necessary.Attend all meetings assigned and perform all other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTSMinimum RequirementsCommunicate effectively and model integrity, fairness, and ethical business practices.3 To 5 years’ experience working in a Human Resources capacity, preferably at a Generalist level.Prior experience working with an employee database such as an HRIS or comparable.Awareness of local, state and federal labor laws and how they apply to a non-profit sector workforce.Ability to blend management and employee considerations for excellent decision making.Compliance driven, highest integrity and commitment to ECS’s mission and to its organizational values.Ability to influence people at various professional levels and career stages.Articulate, excellent verbal and written communication with a high degree of diplomacy and tact.Practice active listening and open to feedback.Ability to appreciate differences in perspectives and points of view and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
