Development & Engagement Coordinator

Position Overview Behind Every Door is seeking a highly organized and proactive Development & Engagement Coordinator to support and strengthen our fundraising efforts through strong systems, consistent donor engagement, and well‑executed campaigns. This role focuses on supporting the day‑to‑day execution of development strategy—managing CRM processes, coordinating fundraising campaigns, supporting donor stewardship, and helping create meaningful donor experiences. Working closely with the VP of Development, this person helps ensure plans are carried out with excellence, consistency, and attention to detail. The Coordinator plays an important role in supporting donor journeys from first gift to long‑term partnership by ensuring timely communication, thoughtful stewardship, and organized follow‑through across all donor touchpoints. This role also helps turn fundraising from activity into a managed system—creating the structure, visibility, and consistency that allows leadership to focus on relationships, strategy, and long‑term growth. Key Responsibilities CRM Execution & Data Integrity Manage the day‑to‑day functionality of the CRM (Virtuous) and support accurate, up‑to‑date donor records and activity Execute segmentation, list building, donor tracking, and reporting support to help inform campaigns, dashboards, and decision‑making Campaign Coordination & Execution Coordinate and support the execution of annual giving campaigns (monthly giving, year‑end, and key initiatives) from planning through follow‑up Manage timelines, track deliverables, and partner with Communications and internal teams to ensure campaigns are completed with quality and timeliness Donor Lifecycle & Engagement Support the implementation of donor engagement strategies and ensure consistent, timely touchpoints across donor segments Track engagement activity, donor movement, and next steps to help strengthen relationships and maintain momentum Donor Stewardship Manage acknowledgment processes to ensure timely, accurate, and meaningful donor thank‑yous Support stewardship touchpoints and follow‑up to help create a thoughtful and consistent donor experience Donor Communications & Experiences Coordinate donor communications by organizing content needs, timelines, and distribution across campaigns Support donor engagement opportunities in partnership with the Communications team and event support partners, including invitations, RSVPs, logistics, and follow‑up Operational Systems & Cross‑Team Coordination Support and improve processes, workflows, and documentation that help development efforts run efficiently and consistently Partner with Development, Finance, Programs, and Communications teams to ensure alignment and smooth execution across projects Reporting & Accountability Track key metrics including campaign performance, donor retention, engagement activity, and pipeline visibility Prepare reports and dashboards that provide clear visibility into fundraising progress and results for leadership What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is organized, proactive, and takes ownership of their work. The ideal candidate enjoys both systems and people—someone who can manage details while also helping create meaningful donor experiences and engagement opportunities. 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit development, operations, communications, or a related field Experience working with a CRM or database system (Virtuous or similar preferred) Strong organizational and project management skills with excellent attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through consistently Systems‑oriented thinker who enjoys building and improving processes Creative and solutions‑oriented, with an ability to identify opportunities for donor engagement and help bring those ideas to life through strong execution Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to grow in a dynamic environment Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across teams Alignment with the mission and values of Behind Every Door Why This Role Matters This role plays a key part in helping Behind Every Door build a sustainable and growing base of support.
