Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
Shift: Night, 12-hour shifts (3 nights per week)
Setting: Acute care hospital MICU with adult critical care patients

This travel assignment places an experienced MICU RN in a high-acuity, fast-paced unit. You’ll provide care for adults with complex medical needs in a 30-bed medical ICU, including sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, chronic kidney disease, substance use/abuse, status epilepticus, and encephalopathy. The role requires strong critical thinking, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and adherence to evidence-based ICU practices.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to critically ill adult patients in MICU, including monitoring neurologic, cardiovascular, respiratory, and renal functions
- Manage ventilated patients, including ventilator settings, alarms, and weaning as appropriate
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies, including vasoactive infusions, antibiotics, and sedatives; monitor for adverse effects
- Perform frequent assessments, document findings, and participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds
- Respond to patient deteriorations, implement emergency protocols, and assist with procedures (line placements, suctioning, arterial/central access as needed)
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, wound/ostomy care nurses, and bedside staff to coordinate care and discharge planning
- Ensure infection control, patient safety, and adherence to ICU protocols and documentation standards

Requirements
- 2+ years of MICU/ICU nursing experience
- ACLS and BLS certification required
- Ventilator management experience required
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced MICU
- Competence in critical care monitoring, titration of medications, and ongoing patient assessment
- Education: RN degree from an accredited program (or equivalent)
