About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President for its Commercial Surety business. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership that drives underwriting excellence, profitable growth, and market competitiveness. This role involves overseeing the establishment and execution of underwriting strategy, risk appetite, and product direction, as well as maintaining key relationships with distribution partners and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. The VP will also be accountable for the financial performance of the business, including premium growth, profitability, and expense management, and will lead a team of underwriting leaders to foster a high-performance culture and develop organizational capabilities. Candidates for the VP position should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a Master's degree preferred, and a minimum of 15 years of experience in the surety bond marketplace. The role requires a proven track record in leading commercial surety underwriting operations, managing large accounts, and developing and executing underwriting strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong agency and broker relationships, experience in underwriting transformation, and a deep understanding of the surety bond marketplace. Key skills include strategic planning, executive decision-making, financial acumen, and the ability to influence business outcomes through data-driven decision-making. The VP will also be responsible for talent leadership, organizational development, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
