Gastroenterology Locums Opportunity - Prestonsburg, Kentucky Quick Facts for Candidate ScreeningAvailability Needed

• Assignment Duration: 12 months
• Need 1 provider preferred (open to alternating weeks with 2 providers)

License & Certification Requirements

• Facility willing to license qualified candidates
• GI Board Certification or Board Eligible assumed (standard for locum gastroenterology roles; verify with recruiter)

Schedule & Call RequirementsClinic Hours

• Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Call Structure

• Shared on-call with another provider
• Offsite call response:
  • Emergency consultation: within 30 minutes
  • Routine issues: within 12 hours
• Frequency: 1-2 times per week
• Most common call reason: active GI bleed

Support Staff

• APP support provided

Procedural RequirementsGeneral GI Procedures

• Upper Endoscopy (EGD)
• Colonoscopy

Advanced Procedures

• ERCP (mid-level / moderate complexity)
• EUS: Not required
• EMR: Not required

Specialty Procedures

• Esophageal, duodenal, or luminal stent placement
• Argon plasma coagulation
• Biopsies (esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon)
• Colonoscopy with/without polypectomy
• Diagnostic and therapeutic EGD
• Enteral alimentation
• Esophageal dilation (balloon, bougie, or Savary with guidewire)
• Foreign body removal via EGD
• Flexible sigmoidoscopy
• GI motility studies and 24-hour pH monitoring
• Non-variceal hemostasis (upper and lower)
• Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG)

Procedural Volume

• 12-14 procedures per day
