Accounting ManagerThe Accounting Manager oversees the day-to-day activities of all corporate entities and Tenant Receivables. In conjunction with the Controller, oversee payroll and provide support or back up as needed. Coordinate accounting and operational functions to ensure policies and procedures are written and conformed to, providing an environment that yields correct, verifiable, responsible, and timely financial data.Essential Functions:Oversee the accounting for all corporate entities, ensuring accuracy and timelines of transactions. Expected to support the employee handbookPrepare financial statements, ensuring they are prepared in accordance with GAAP and organizational policy.Oversee the day-to-day work of tenant receivables, including evaluating property assignments and prioritizing daily and monthly deadlines.Ensure tenant payments and housing payments are posted timely and accurately.Ensure tenant and housing ledger discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.Perform the Yardi check run, including reconciling cash for all properties, cutting checks, and performing intercompany bank transfers.Coordinate with Property Management & Resident Services on the relocation process for rehabs. Perform all accounting functions related to the relocation.Monitor accounting processes for efficiency and recommend improvements, including systems and automation opportunities.Assist with the annual audits for all properties and corporate entities. Upload information as requested and respond to inquiries. Assist with review of property audited financial statements.Assist the Controller with consolidated audit and compilation of the consolidated audit package.Support the preparation of the corporate budget templates and import into the accounting system.Provide support and backup for the payroll processing function, as needed. This may include processing payroll via ADP for all companies and/or reviewing payroll prior to submission (checking for accuracy of hours, department, location codes, deductions, and status changes in ADP).Assist with special projects, including system implementations, policy updates, or process documentation.Prepare and file year end 1099s for all entities.This position partners with Human Resources to ensure employees are treated, consistently, fairly, and in alignment with Nevada HAND policies.Education/Training:Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role.Advanced knowledge of GAAP and the ability to research accounting issues.Previous experience with non-profit organizations preferred.Previous experience with construction, real estate development, property management, LIHTC programs preferred.Qualifications and Skills Required:Proficient with Microsoft ExcelProficient with Microsoft WordProficient with Yardi, preferred but not required10-key by touchStrong attention to detail and effective use of timeAbility to multi-task, meet deadlines and grasp concepts quicklyAbility to use reasonable judgement in making accounting decisionsMaintain professional discretion when dealing with confidential informationStrong written & verbal communication skillsWorking knowledge of accrual basis accountingWorking knowledge of property management accounting practicesAble to work as part of a team and get along well with othersShow initiative in managing workload and problem solvingPhysical Requirements:Ability to transport files up to approximately 30 pounds.Bending and kneeling to file documents and files.Regularly required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear using telephone, computer keyboard, mouse and calculator while seated at a desk.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Able to sit at desk for extended periods of time.NOTE: This is not necessarily a complete list of responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, efforts, or working conditions associated with the job.
