Who We Are The Rock is a growing, multi-generational, non-denominational church of 600 people (in-person & online). God has blessed us with a debt-free campus, a healthy church family, and tremendous momentum for the future. We are seeking a gifted Executive Pastor who is first a shepherd of God’s people, while also possessing the executive leadership gifts to build a healthy organization so healthy ministries can flourish. This individual will make it their mission to help translate vision into ministry reality. Position Summary The Executive Pastor serves as the Lead Pastor’s ministry partner and the church’s primary ministry integrator, translating vision into execution by leading the church’s staff, systems, operations, finances, and organizational development while equipping God’s people for effective ministry. Working in close partnership with the Lead Pastor and senior staff, the Executive Pastor provides complementary leadership that enables the church to flourish both spiritually and organizationally. The Executive Pastor ensures that the church’s people, ministries, systems, finances, facilities, and operations are aligned to accomplish the church’s mission with excellence. This position is designed for a leader who finds joy in making others successful. The Executive Pastor thrives by helping the pastoral staff, Elders, Trustees, staff, and ministry leaders accomplish more together than they could individually. Primary Responsibilities 1. Executive Leadership & Ministry Integration Serve as the Lead Pastor’s chief ministry partner and strategic advisor. Translate the church’s vision into actionable plans, measurable goals, and healthy organizational systems. Lead strategic planning initiatives and ensure that ministry objectives, staffing, budgeting, and organizational priorities remain aligned with the church’s mission and vision. Integrate the work of the church’s ministries so that staff, volunteers, and ministry leaders are working together toward common goals. Foster a culture of biblical stewardship, servant leadership, organizational health, collaboration, and ministry excellence. Encourage healthy communication, teamwork, and accountability across all ministries. Assist the Lead Pastor in strengthening the church’s long-range vision and strategic direction. 2. Administration & Organizational Leadership Provide day-to-day executive leadership for the church’s administrative and operational functions. Work with the Executive Assistant/Bookkeeper to ensure accurate financial record keeping and reporting. Build and maintain effective organizational systems that support ministry growth while avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy. Oversee office administration, communications, records management, and operational procedures. Assist ministry leaders with planning, budgeting, project management, and volunteer development. Continually evaluate ministry effectiveness and recommend improvements that strengthen organizational health. 3. Finance, Human Resources & Operations Work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees in overseeing the church’s financial stewardship, personnel, facilities, and operational resources. Assist in preparing the annual budget and provide ongoing financial oversight in cooperation with the Trustee chairman and Executive Assistant/Bookkeeper. Monitor ministry expenditures and encourage wise stewardship of church resources. Help oversee employment practices, hiring, onboarding, staff development, performance reviews, and personnel policies. Provide administrative leadership for church insurance, safety, and risk management. Ensure that sound financial controls, organizational policies, and legal compliance are consistently maintained. 4. Pastoral Leadership Work with pastoral staff to provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the continued development of the church’s adult ministries. Strengthen ministries that encourage biblical discipleship, authentic community, leadership development, and meaningful service. Work with pastoral staff to develop leadership pathways that equip believers to discover, develop, and faithfully use their spiritual gifts. Teach Growth Track classes, Baptism class, Rock Bible courses, New Believer course, leadership training, and other discipleship courses, as needed. Participate in the Sunday preaching ministry, as needed (4-6 times/year). Regularly lead or participate in a Life Group. Equip believers to become mature disciples who influence their homes, workplaces, church, and community for Christ. Share in pastoral ministry through counseling, hospital visitation, weddings, funerals, crisis care, and congregational support. Provide leadership at the new Mayville Campus when needed. Qualifications A vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ demonstrated by mature Christian character and servant leadership. A clear calling to pastoral ministry. Agreement with and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of the church. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Theology, Ministry, Leadership, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field preferred. At least five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a local church or comparable Christian ministry. Demonstrated success in organizational leadership, strategic planning, administration, financial management, and team development. Strong financial and business acumen with experience managing budgets, personnel, and organizational resources. Proven ability to build healthy systems, lead change wisely, solve complex problems, and execute long-range plans. Exceptional communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. High emotional intelligence marked by humility, wisdom, integrity, and discernment. A collaborative leadership style that inspires trust, empowers others, and develops leaders. A genuine pastor’s heart with the ability to move comfortably from the boardroom to the classroom to the hospital room. A lifestyle consistent with the biblical qualifications for church leaders (1 Tim. 3; Titus 1). Compensation Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with education, experience, and demonstrated leadership ability.
