Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Montebello, CA Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour Position Type: Contract-to-Hire
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to support a busy accounting department in Montebello. The ideal candidate will have strong invoice processing experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
Responsibilities
- Process and verify vendor invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper approvals
- Perform 2-way and 3-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documentation
- Code invoices to the appropriate general ledger accounts and cost centers
- Research and resolve vendor inquiries, payment discrepancies, and invoice exceptions
- Reconcile vendor statements and assist with month-end AP reconciliations
- Prepare ACH, wire, and check payment batches for approval and processing
- Maintain vendor files, including W-9s, tax documentation, and payment information
- Monitor AP aging and assist with ensuring timely payment of outstanding obligations
- Support credit card and employee expense reimbursement processing
- Collaborate with purchasing, receiving, and accounting teams to resolve issues and improve workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Accounts Payable experience in a high-volume environment
- Strong understanding of invoice processing, AP reconciliations, and payment procedures
- Experience with 2-way and 3-way matching preferred
- Knowledge of general ledger coding and account allocations
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, and formulas
- ERP or accounting software experience required
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-service-oriented approach
