Passionate about making an impact in children’s lives? Here’s a rewarding opportunity for occupational therapy professionals to work within a supportive and creative school environment. This full-time contract role runs from August 10, 2026, to June 8, 2027. You’ll join a dynamic team addressing the varied needs of elementary-aged students, specifically those in grades 3 through 5th, as well as younger learners. Four openings are available, all exclusively on-site.
In this role, you’ll engage with diverse caseloads, primarily ranging from academic life skills to high-level autism, communication, and behavioral needs. The district provides robust behavioral support resources and an outstanding mentorship program to help you flourish. Therapists have the flexibility to establish their work schedule based on student caseloads, with administrative approval—no set daily start or end times, and 21 hours per week dedicated to direct services.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Maryland OT or COTA license required
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is preferred
- Familiarity with academic life skills programs
- Skills supporting students with high-level autism, communication, and behavioral needs
- Collaborative mindset to work with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small group therapy to elementary students across one or several schools (assignment and locations to be discussed during the interview)
- Evaluate, document, and track student progress
- Collaborate in developing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Communicate regularly with staff and parents, offering expertise on assistive devices and accommodations
