Senior Principal Architect, Data & Analytics

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in architecture and software engineering concepts, along with 10+ years of applied experience and 7+ years leading architecture for large-scale, mission-critical data platforms in complex, regulated settings.
• We need deep expertise in data architecture patterns, including data mesh, lakehouse, canonical data modeling, domain-driven design, event-driven and streaming architectures, CQRS, and API-led connectivity.
• We look for a strong track record in portfolio-scale architecture governance, including design principles, Architecture Review Board participation, standards enforcement, and cross-team alignment.
• We need solid knowledge of AWS, cloud-native platforms, container orchestration, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and platform engineering practices.
• We expect experience with real-time and batch data processing technologies such as Kafka, Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, or equivalent tools, plus the governance and resiliency patterns that support them.
• We require hands-on expertise in data governance, including metadata management, lineage, data quality, classification, retention, and localization controls.
• We need experience shaping and delivering AI and Generative AI strategy in a technology organization, including LLM integration patterns, MLOps, model governance, and responsible AI practices.
• We look for demonstrated experience driving safe adoption of enterprise-authorized AI capabilities across architecture workflows, including validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity.
• We require the ability to evaluate and govern AI-enabled architectural patterns, including agentic workflows, with clear control boundaries, auditability, and human approval checkpoints aligned to resiliency and security expectations.
• We need security and resiliency expertise, including zero trust, multi-region disaster recovery, secrets management, chaos engineering, and site reliability practices.
• We look for executive presence with the ability to simplify complexity, influence C-suite and engineering audiences, and build consensus across competing priorities.
• Preferred experience includes global financial services and regulated environments, with familiarity in compliance regimes such as OCC, PRA, EBA, and MAS.
• Preferred certifications include AWS Solutions Architect Professional, TOGAF, CISSP, or equivalent.
• We value hands-on pragmatism, including the ability to review code-level artifacts, data models, and infrastructure designs while keeping a strategic perspective.
• Preferred experience includes enterprise-scale data platform modernization, including legacy migration and strangler-fig approaches.
• Familiarity with FinOps and cost-aware data design, including storage tiers, partitioning, and lifecycle policies, is a plus.
• Experience with firmwide data risk management frameworks and evidence-based audit support is preferred.

• We own and maintain the target-state and transitional architectures for the CDAS tower, covering Reference Data, KYC, and Common Trade and Position Data platforms that support Finance and Risk functions across the firm.
• We lead architecture governance across the tower by setting design principles, guardrails, and review processes that keep solutions consistent with CT architectural direction.
• We drive the modernization roadmap for critical data applications, balancing technical debt reduction, resilience, scalability, cost, and speed to market.
• We chair or contribute to Architecture Review Boards and represent the tower in firmwide and CT architecture forums, sharing reference patterns and governance guidance for wider use.
• We act as the primary technical partner for senior leaders, CTOs, Chief Architects, and business stakeholders, building trusted advisor relationships and influencing technology investment decisions.
• We provide hands-on oversight and coaching to domain architects and engineering leads, and we step directly into complex design issues and escalated technical decisions when needed.
• We ensure all platforms comply with firmwide data governance, data risk policy, regulatory obligations, and security and resiliency standards, including multi-region resilience requirements.
• We establish reuse-first AI-enabled engineering patterns across SDLC and toolchain practices, embedding traceability, auditability, and security controls by design.
• We mentor and grow a high-performing architecture practice and foster a community of craftsmanship among architects, engineers, and data practitioners in the tower.
• We translate highly complex technical issues, trends, and approaches for leadership so they can make informed strategic decisions about target-state architecture.
• We set portfolio-level guardrails for AI-assisted and agentic workflows used in architecture and engineering governance, including traceability, auditability, and control expectations aligned with resiliency and security standards.
