Part-Time Herbarium Assistant – Biology Department – FY2027 Job Description We are looking for a qualified candidate to assist in day‑to‑day herbarium operations. Tasks will include, but are not limited to: Mounting and databasing incoming specimens and filing them to increase the size of the research collection. Pulling specimens from the collection needed for use in various Botany and Biology classes (including BIOL 120, 122, 331, and 400) as well as for visiting researchers requesting specific specimens. Sorting specimens based on instructor need, such as for use in quizzes or in‑class examples. Updating the taxonomy of the collection to reflect more modern sources, particularly the taxonomic system followed in BIOL 331. Interacting with and assisting visiting researchers. Supervising students and volunteers in specimen preparation and label formatting. Assisting the collection manager in event planning such as Nevada Native Plant Society meetings and volunteer events such as plant mounting parties, plant identification flash courses, and group tours.
