Senior Director Revenue Cycle Operations

Job Description: The Senior Director Revenue Cycle will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of revenue cycle strategies in professional billing, follow up, and denial management for the organization to optimize financial performance. The successful candidate will possess a combination of specialized technical expertise in the assigned department/s, strategic vision, and leadership skills to drive results. This position coordinates with the other RSC Senior Leadership team to ensure that all operational revenue management functions are aligned and optimized to meet or exceed patient requirements, maximize collections, and minimize cost to collect.

This position can be performed remotely with travel as needed. Intermountain Health maintains employment registration in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. Candidates in other locations may be considered. Currently, we are not hiring remote workers in the following states: CA, CT, HI, IL, NY, RI, VT, and WA.

Job Essentials

• Develop and implement revenue cycle strategies to improve financial performance.
• Creates and manages annual operating budget. Conducts return on investment analyses on capital expenditures and identifies various opportunities for savings and revenue growth. Analyzes budget variances while implementing improvement initiatives.
• Identifies and implements new technology or identifies enhancements to existing technology to drive performance improvement, efficiency and/or to improve the patient experience.
• Identifies, leads and drives quality and performance improvement initiatives. Leads the team to establish mechanisms to design, measure, maintain, and improve the performance and quality of department/s services. Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Develops action plans in line with the organization's strategic initiatives and goals.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve revenue cycle performance.
• Acts as champion or business owner of external vendors that provide products and/or services to Revenue Cycle operations; selects and coordinates any third-party vendors within the assigned department/s.
• Monitor and analyze revenue cycle metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and implement financial goals and objectives.
• Manage and develop a team of revenue cycle professionals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Fifteen (15) years of progressive revenue cycle leadership experience.

And

Ability to build strong partnerships across the organization such as Managed Care, Finance, ITDS, operations and clinical leadership to ensure Intermountain Health’s strategies are executed.

And

Ability to lead teams in a large operational/healthcare/financial environment.

And

Comprehensive understanding of hospital and clinic operations, working knowledge of hospital and clinic finance and accounting, including patient accounting principles and operations.

And

Extensive knowledge of the current healthcare/finance environment and trends, policies, and regulations - keeping current on industry developments.

And

Advanced knowledge of information systems, vendor contracting, patient accounting processes, including billing, collections, and reimbursement analysis.

And

Extensive knowledge of facilitating engagement related strategies to create high performing teams, and a work culture aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

And

Competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to complex business challenges.

And

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree

And

In depth knowledge of Epic software systems.

With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$78.66 - $121.47
