26-27 AY Temporary Faculty Pool (Lecturer) – Broadcast and Digital Journalism Job no: 556722 Work type: Instructional Faculty – Temporary/Lecturer Location: Fresno Department of Media, Communications and Journalism Since 1928, the Media, Communications and Journalism Department has prepared thousands of students for professional media careers. The department offers courses in advertising, broadcast and digital journalism, film, photography, public relations, and video production. Teaching Assignments MCJ 2 – Media Writing (taught in-person) MCJ 102W – Reporting (taught in-person) MCJ 106 – Publication Design MCJ 107 – Data Journalism MCJ 108 – Public Affairs Reporting MCJ 121 – News Video Production (taught in-person) MCJ 125 – Radio Reporting and Podcasting MCJ 167 – Sports Journalism (taught in-person) MCJ 177T – TV and Digital News Producing Other classes as needed to meet educational goals Instructor Responsibility Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies. Instructors prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, hybrid). Conditional Appointment Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States. Compensation Commensurate with qualifications and experience within salary range placement. Salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358). For a master’s degree, the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month for full-time (15 WTUs), adjusted based on WTUs assigned per term. Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed. The pool will remain for two academic terms; participants may reapply thereafter. Fall 2026: Aug 19, 2026 – Dec 22, 2026 Spring 2027: Jan 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027 Required Qualifications Education: A master’s degree in Media, Communications, Journalism or related field with an emphasis in Broadcast, Multimedia, or Digital Journalism or closely related field. Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse faculty, staff, and students. Experience in a professional-level news organization. Preferred Qualifications Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level evidenced through prior teaching experience and evaluations. Successful undergraduate teaching experience. Experience with data journalism, sports journalism, investigative reporting, news video production, and/or storytelling. Application Procedures Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
