Work Environment

Situated in a hospital setting in West Islip, New York, our clinic operates from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, allowing for comprehensive evaluations and advanced treatments. As part of our Pain Management team, you will collaborate closely with surgeons, physical therapists, and rehabilitation specialists, ensuring holistic care for our patients. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients with pain-related conditions, taking comprehensive medical histories and evaluating physical, socioeconomic, and psychosocial risk factors.
• Deliver preventative health services through well visits, screenings, and immunizations, as well as manage acute and chronic pain conditions requiring intervention.
• Order, perform, and interpret necessary diagnostic tests, proactively responding to results that may necessitate further evaluation.
• Develop individualized treatment plans that may include pharmacological interventions, therapy referrals, and lifestyle recommendations aimed at enhancing symptom management.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Work closely with specialists to ensure continuity of care, facilitating referrals to other providers when higher levels of intervention are necessary.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position primarily focuses on patients suffering from various pain syndromes, including acute injuries, chronic pain impacts from conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, and post-surgical pain. You will engage with patients across multiple demographics, adapting communication styles and treatment plans to align with their unique needs. Your patient education efforts will empower individuals to take control of their health and manage pain proactively.

Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
• Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in New York State.
• At least 2 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with a focus on pain management or a related field.
• Exceptional time management skills along with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a busy clinical environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficient in health information systems and electronic medical record systems to ensure accurate patient documentation.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in pain management, orthopedics, or rehabilitative services is highly advantageous.
• Understanding of current practices and treatment modalities related to chronic pain assessment and management.
• Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic and culturally competent care to diverse patient populations.

Compensation and Benefits
