Job Title: RN General Medicine PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 Year Preferred License: Active RN License Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Ventilator care experience required - EPIC charting experience required Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse in a general medicine PCU setting. The shift hours are 4x12s, from 06:45 to 19:15. Experience with EPIC charting is essential. Cardiac monitoring and emergency response capabilities are necessary. Candidates should have skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management. IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration are required. Comfort with central and peripheral line care is expected. Medication administration skills, including cardiac drips (without titration), are necessary. Experience with respiratory support, including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management, is necessary. Familiarity with ventilator care for chronic trach and ventilator patients is required. Involvement in rapid response and code team activation is expected. Understanding of isolation precautions and telemetry settings is essential. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, with a goal of 1:4. This is a hybrid unit consisting of PCU and ICU patients. Common diagnoses include DKA, COPD, sepsis, suicide/overdose, chronic respiratory failure, and renal failure. Remote telemetry will be utilized, with tele sitting to support patient care. Floating within the skill set may be required. This role involves working with a multidisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates must be prepared to work at least one holiday during the contract. This opportunity is open to first-time travelers.
