Commercial Staff Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our Commercial Accounting Team.This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with company policies and management agreements.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports as required by ownership and management.Perform general ledger account analysis and reconciliations.Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets.Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for material fluctuations.Code and review invoices for accounts payable processing.Ensure compliance with applicable management agreements and internal controls.Maintain, review, and interpret lease files and related documentation.Complete CAM (Common Area Maintenance) and Real Estate Tax (RET) reconciliations, as applicable.Prepare year-end tax workpapers.Assist with property acquisitions and dispositions, including financial onboarding/offboarding.Collaborate effectively with property management and accounting teams.Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by Accounting Manager, Controller, or CFO.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.Minimum of two (2) years of real estate accounting experience preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.Experience with Yardi or comparable property management/accounting software preferred.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Friedman Real Estate is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
