Candidate must have at least 1 year of Med Surg experience in a large hospital with 450+ beds. Description: We seek a Registered Nurse for the Centralized Registry Float position in Med Surg. This role involves providing general medical and surgical nursing care. The nurse will care for a diverse population of patients with various diagnoses, including chronic illnesses. Conditions managed may include COPD, Diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. The position also includes care for GI issues, infections, neurological issues, and patients with mental health disorders. Nurses will assist with procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. Key responsibilities include patient assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Utilization of the electronic health record, IV pumps, and other medical equipment is required. Skills necessary for this position include the management of IV therapy, wound vacs, feeding tubes, and chest tubes. Nurses will float to other medical units as needed. Patient ratios are 1:5-6. The dress code is Caribbean blue scrubs. This position requires three weekend shifts in four weeks. Training involves a general hospital orientation followed by nursing orientation, including Epic classes.
