About the Position

Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Indiana RN license or compact license required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: 1 year of MedSurg experience at a large hospital (450+ beds) Description: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience. We see a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses, including chronic illnesses such as COPD, diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. We manage gastrointestinal issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel diseases. We also care for patients with infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, and UTIs. Neurological issues managed include stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injuries. Mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse are also part of patient care. Patients may undergo procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. General job duties include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Utilization of electronic health records and equipment such as IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding tubes, and chest tubes are expected. Management of heparin and insulin drips, as well as IV therapy, is part of the role. Nursing staff will float to other medical units as needed. Patient ratios are 1:5-6. Dress code is Caribbean blue scrubs. 3 weekend shifts are required every 4 weeks. The orientation includes general hospital orientation and nursing orientation with Epic classes.
