Position Overview

Turning Tides Psychotherapy Center is actively seeking a dedicated Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our innovative and compassionate team. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough initial assessments with clients to evaluate their mental health status and identify specific treatment needs.
• Create and implement individualized treatment plans that utilize evidence-based therapeutic practices to assist clients in overcoming personal challenges.
• Hold regular teletherapy sessions with clients, employing effective therapeutic techniques to foster their emotional and psychological growth.
• Facilitate referrals to additional healthcare providers, including psychiatrists or support groups, as needed to enhance client care.
• Keep detailed, confidential, and accurate records in our electronic health record (EHR) system to track clients' progress and adapt treatment plans accordingly.
• Stay current with best practices in mental health counseling, actively participating in team meetings and training sessions.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work closely with a diverse range of clients, including adults managing issues related to anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, trauma, and relationship challenges. Understanding and respecting the cultural backgrounds and unique experiences of each client is crucial to ensure effective therapy. Your efforts will directly contribute to helping clients achieve their mental health goals, enhancing their overall well-being.

Qualifications

• A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or other relevant certification in New York State.
• A minimum of four years of relevant clinical experience in a mental health setting is required.
• Profound understanding of various mental health disorders, evidence-based treatment methodologies, and the ability to apply cultural competence in therapeutic practices.
• Exceptional crisis intervention skills, demonstrating calmness and professionalism in challenging circumstances.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to a wide range of individuals and build trust.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems and basic computer applications.
• A commitment to professional ethics, maintaining confidentiality, and establishing appropriate boundaries with clients.

Preferred Experience

• Experience providing both individual and group therapy, applying culturally responsive practices to engage clients effectively.
• Background in facilitating telehealth services or familiarity with remote counseling techniques.
• Involvement in clinical supervision or mentorship, contributing to the professional growth of team members.

Compensation and Benefits
