Work Environment

As a Health Nurse Practitioner in a school setting, you will operate within a collaborative atmosphere alongside educators, school counselors, and administrative staff. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments to diagnose acute and chronic health conditions among students, utilizing evidence-based practice to ensure precise evaluations.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, efficiently discerning results to guide treatment decisions.
• Prescribe appropriate medications and therapeutic interventions, ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations.
• Educate students and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and management strategies specific to pediatric and adolescent health concerns.
• Maintain meticulous medical records and documentation to facilitate continuity of care and comply with regulatory standards.
• Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing overall health outcomes within the school community.
• Stay abreast of the latest healthcare trends and regulatory updates, incorporating relevant advancements into practice.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role focuses primarily on children and adolescents, addressing a spectrum of health issues ranging from routine physical assessments to managing chronic medical conditions prevalent among school-aged populations. You will engage in preventive care, case management, and health education, equipping students with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate their health challenges successfully.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
• Possession of current certification as a Nurse Practitioner and an active state nursing license in New Jersey.
• A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a nursing role is required, with a preference for experience in pediatric or school-based healthcare.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with students, families, and colleagues.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred Experience

Although 3 years of experience is the minimum requirement, candidates with 5 years of direct clinical experience in a school or pediatric healthcare setting will be given preference. Experience managing chronic health issues in children, familiarity with school health policies, and strong advocacy for youth health and education are also advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

• We offer a competitive salary ranging from $150,000 to $180,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
