Position Summary
This department is the face of Alabama Pain Physicians and requires patience, professionalism, empathy, strong communication, and time management. This role is responsible for front office support, patient check-in, insurance-related administrative functions, and ensuring a smooth patient experience while maintaining accuracy and workflow efficiency.
This is not an entry-level role. We are looking for experienced candidates with strong insurance knowledge and prior physician office experience.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and check in patients in a professional and timely manner
Collect co-pays, balances, and patient payments accurately
Verify demographic, insurance, and patient information
Maintain strong working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans
Review insurance eligibility, coverage details, and payer requirements
Assist with insurance verification, benefit-related questions, and front-end administrative support
Manage cash, check, and credit card balancing as needed
Import and organize documentation from front office systems and fax portals
Record patient communication and correspondence accurately in EHR/EMR
Support scheduling, patient flow, and general front office operations
Communicate professionally with patients, providers, and coworkers
Assist with additional administrative tasks as assigned by management
Qualifications
2+ years of front office experience in a private physician office or specialty clinic preferred
Strong insurance knowledge required, including: Commercial insurance plans
Eligibility verification
Coverage review
Patient financial responsibility understanding

Prior healthcare administrative or insurance-heavy medical office experience strongly preferred
Experience handling patient payments and balancing daily deposits preferred
Strong EMR/EHR experience
High attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinic environment
Professional demeanor with strong customer service skills
Reliable, patient-focused, and team-oriented
Preferred Experience
Pain management, specialty clinic, or high-volume physician office experience
Insurance verification / front-end revenue cycle exposure
Scheduling and patient intake experience
