Vice President - Enterprise Scenario Design Lead

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $155,000.00 and $195,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. Role Description

The Enterprise Risk Management team is seeking a Vice President to provide enterprise-wide leadership for scenario design for the SMBC Americas Division, including the development, governance, and execution of enterprise stress tests including CCAR. The role ensures that scenario methodologies, assumptions, and governance processes support effective capital adequacy assessment, risk appetite and strategic decision-making, in alignment with U.S. regulatory expectations and SMBC Group standards.

The role will report to the Head of Stress Testing & Scenario Design.

Role Responsibilities:

• Develop macroeconomic forecast for enterprise stress scenarios covering CCAR/capital stress testing, risk appetite and adhoc/rapid stress testing
• Coordinate with risk stripes to drive consistency across macroeconomic forecast and idiosyncratic market shocks for trading portfolios
• Develop scenario narratives that clearly articulate economic drivers, key assumptions, and risk impacts.
• Own the scenario design policy and manage the scenario design working group which has senior stakeholders from risk, finance and front office
• Maintain an inventory of approved enterprise scenarios and associated use cases
• Ensure linkage between enterprise scenarios and the firm's risk taxonomy, material risks, vulnerabilities, concentrations, and emerging risk inventory.
• Partner with risk technology to create a scenario capability that houses all internal scenarios for downstream use

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in finance/economics or related discipline; Master’s, MBA or PhD degree preferred in similar disciplines
• 10+ years of experience in scenario design, stress testing, capital planning, risk management, economics, or quantitative analytics within a large financial institution
• Deep expertise in macroeconomic trends and emerging risks impacting banking and trading portfolios; familiarity with both banking and trading products is highly desired
• Demonstrated experience designing macroeconomic scenarios and forecast supporting CCAR and/or enterprise stress testing in large and complex banking organization, ideally in a category 3 bank or GSIB
• Strong understanding of U.S. regulatory expectations, including CCAR and capital planning guidance (SR 12-7/ 15-19), and related supervisory stress testing standards.
• Self-starter and ability to forge strong relationships with business partners including risk stripes, finance and front office
• Gravitas to lead challenging and strategic discussions with business partners
• Exceptional ability to communicate scenario results to senior management and regulators
