Work Environment

This position is situated in a hospital setting in Port Jervis, ensuring a professional and dynamic workplace. Physical Therapist Assistants work alongside a multidisciplinary team including physical therapists, physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and support. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in executing individualized physical therapy treatment plans as developed by the supervising Physical Therapist (PT), ensuring the implementation aligns with best practices.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and functional activities, using hands-on techniques to promote healing and restore movement.
• Monitor patient progress meticulously, documenting responses to treatment and any necessary adjustments, in compliance with HIPAA regulations and insurance guidelines.
• Educate patients on proper movement techniques, the importance of adherence to home exercise programs, and strategies for preventing further injury.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout therapy sessions, proactively addressing any concerns or discomfort reported.
• Collaborate with the PT and other healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes, participating in team meetings to discuss patient progress and care strategies.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation within our EMR system to facilitate seamless communication among care providers.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The patients you will work with encompass a diverse demographic, including individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, neurological conditions, and chronic pain situations. Your role as a PTA is fundamental in empowering these patients, guiding them back to their desired levels of function and independence.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapist Assisting from an accredited program recognized by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
• Active and valid Physical Therapist Assistant License in New York State.
• Robust knowledge of therapeutic exercises, rehabilitation protocols, and manual therapy techniques.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Experience

• At least two years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant, preferably in an inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation environment.
• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems; experience with Web PT is a plus.
• Ability to operate physical therapy equipment and emerging rehabilitation technology.

Compensation and Benefits
