Accounting Manager

3.1 Phillip Lim is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Accounting Manager to oversee the Company's accounting operations and lead the monthly financial close process. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance & Operations, this role is responsible for the integrity of the Company's financial records, supervision of day‑to‑day accounting activities, and ownership of the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions. The ideal candidate is a proactive accounting professional who enjoys balancing technical accounting expertise with operational finance in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. About the Role General Accounting Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Review balance sheet accounts and investigate unusual transactions or variances. Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. Manage intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and settlements across domestic and international entities. Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, prepaid expenses, and accruals. Oversee bank reconciliations and cash accounting. Accounts Payable Oversee the complete Accounts Payable function, ensuring timely invoice processing, payment execution, and vendor maintenance. Review and approve weekly domestic and international payment runs. Supervise employee expense reimbursements and corporate credit card reconciliations. Ensure vendor obligations are accurately recorded and paid in accordance with company policies and cash flow priorities. Accounts Receivable Oversee customer invoicing, cash application, and Accounts Receivable reconciliations. Monitor customer aging reports and proactively manage collections to optimize cash flow. Review and resolve customer deductions, chargebacks, short payments, and disputed invoices. Coordinate with Wholesale, Sales Operations, Customer Service, and the Company's Factor to resolve receivable issues and maximize collections. Monitor customer credit exposure and assist with credit reviews and collection strategies. Prepare monthly management reporting packages and variance analyses. Coordinate annual audits, financial statement reviews, and requests from external CPAs and Auditors. Support tax advisors with year‑end tax reporting and compliance requirements.Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies. Leadership & Business Support Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, including Accounts Payable personnel. Partner with Production, Logistics, Retail, and Wholesale to resolve accounting matters. Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow planning. Participate in strategic initiatives, acquisitions, financing activities, and other special projects as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for the monthly close process. Prior experience supervising accounting staff. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation. Demonstrated experience managing both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions. Experience with wholesale customer collections, deductions, chargebacks, and cash applications preferred. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and month‑end close procedures. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with ERP/accounting systems (RLM Financials preferred). Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
