Physical Therapist - School Setting in Destrehan, LA

Job Description

Degree in Physical Therapy, active Physical Therapist license and 1+ year of Physical Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Embark on a rewarding opportunity as a contract Physical Therapist serving students across all grade levels in an engaging school-based setting. Located near Destrehan, LA, this onsite role provides essential itinerant PT support to a caseload of approximately 35 students. The position runs from August 3, 2026, through June 4, 2027, offering a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, 8AM-4PM, with a total of 37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Active and valid Physical Therapist State License required
Previous experience or strong interest in school-based PT preferred
Ability to work collaboratively with special education teams, teachers, and administration
Comfortable delivering services to a range of ages and abilities
Strong communication and organizational skills
Flexibility and adaptability to serve students across various school sites

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct and consultative PT services to students as determined by IEPs
Complete evaluations, write progress notes, and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, monitoring student progress
Consult with teachers, staff, and families to ensure effective carryover of PT strategies in the classroom and at home
Maintain thorough, timely documentation in accordance with district and regulatory requirements
Travel between assigned school locations as part of an itinerant service model
