Summary The DoW CIO is the Principal Staff Assistant (PSA) and advisor to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary for information technology (IT), including national security systems (NSS) and information resources management (IRM). The DoW CIO is responsible for information and the DoW information environment, including command, control, and communications (C3), network operations, information systems, information assurance (IA), defensive cyber security, and positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT). Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following: Develops and maintains Cyber Excepted Service (CES) employment and placement policies and guidance. Advises senior leadership on workforce planning, staffing, and talent management initiatives. Oversees workforce program compliance and recommends improvements to policies and procedures. Conducts workforce analyses and develops strategic solutions to address workforce requirements. Represents the organization on workforce policy matters with internal and external stakeholders. Required to participate in the direct deposit program This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI. A Special Background Investigation (SBI) is required with favorable adjudication by a determining authority.
