Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a related field License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 1 year of experience with intermediate care and cardiac patients Ability to titrate drips Experience with common titratable medications Description: The registered nurse will work in a stepdown unit providing care for patients who require intermediate care. The unit supports a range of cardiac and vascular diagnoses. Patients include those downgraded from intensive care, as well as those requiring ongoing monitoring and care. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4, with additional support for post-surgical patients. The role involves monitoring and interpreting telemetry strips and managing titratable medications. Charge nurses are present on each shift and may have limited assignments. Patient care techs are available to assist with patient needs. There is a hospitalist and intensivist on-site 24/7 for patient support. Respiratory therapy is also available around the clock to assist with patient care. Weekend shifts are required every other week. There may be a need to float to other units of the same or lower acuity level. Dress code requires navy blue scrubs. Additional time off requests should be submitted upfront, with limited flexibility for changes. This position may involve cancellation of up to four shifts over the assigned duration. The charting system in use is electronic.
