This position serves as a key contributor within the Finance team and works closely with operational leaders across the organization to support sound financial decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, exceptional analytical skills, and experience in a distribution, wholesale, or inventory-driven environment. This position reports directly to VP of Finance and operates as an individual contributor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and record monthly journal entries and supporting documentation. Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities. Reconcile general ledger accounts including cash, inventory, fixed assets, accruals, prepaid expenses, and liabilities. Maintain balance sheet schedules and account reconciliations. Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages. Inventory & Distribution Accounting Monitor inventory valuation and cost accounting processes. Analyze inventory variances, obsolescence reserves, and inventory-related adjustments. Support physical inventory counts and cycle count reconciliation activities. Partner with operations and warehouse leadership to ensure accurate inventory reporting and controls. Analyze financial performance, trends, and variances against budget and prior periods. Prepare reports and provide insights to support operational and strategic decision-making. Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities. Support business leaders with ad hoc financial analyses and special projects. Compliance & Internal Controls Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting. Assist with preparation of documentation for annual financial audits. Coordinate requests from external auditors and tax advisors. Support compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Assist with sales tax, property tax, and other accounting-related compliance activities as needed. Systems & Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and data accuracy. Support ERP system enhancements, upgrades, and integrations. Participate in finance transformation initiatives and continuous improvement projects. Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Experience 3+ years of progressive accounting experience. Experience in wholesale distribution, electrical distribution, manufacturing, or inventory-intensive industries preferred. Public accounting experience is a plus. Experience with ERP systems and advanced reporting tools preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, formulas, and data analysis. Ability to analyze large data sets and identify trends or discrepancies. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across departments. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA certification preferred. Experience 5-8 3 + years of progressive accounting experience. Experience in wholesale distribution, electrical distribution, manufacturing, or inventory-intensive industries preferred. Public accounting experience is a plus. Experience with ERP systems and advanced reporting tools preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, formulas, and data analysis. Ability to analyze large data sets and identify trends or discrepancies. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across departments. Primarily office-based work. Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods. Occasional travel may be required to branch or distribution locations.
