Sr. Accountant

Dagen is recruiting a temp to perm Senior Accountant for our growing oil & gas services client in the Energy Corridor. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented and organized.

The successful incumbent will oversee general accounting operations, ensure financial accuracy, and support month-end and year-end close processes. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in financial reporting, account reconciliations, budgeting support, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage general ledger activities and ensure accurate account reconciliations
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or trends
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate external audits and support internal audit requests
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
• Improve accounting procedures and internal controls
• Support tax preparation and reporting activities
• Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance as needed
• Other job responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Skills

• Experience with ERP systems
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
• Audit and compliance experience
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
