Software Engineer - Scala (Corporate Technology)

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience
• Practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Proficiency in Scala, Java, or Python, with Scala preferred
• Strong big data and database skills
• Experience with AWS cloud services such as ECS, EKS, EMR, or Lambda
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and efficient coding practices
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment
• Ability to collaborate with global teams across locations and time zones
• Self-directed approach, including coordinating with team members, users, and partner teams to deliver solutions
• Familiarity with agile methodologies such as Scrum, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• Experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and establishing validation expectations for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption
• Preferred: Familiarity with Spark and distributed computing

• Deliver standard software solutions through design, development, and technical troubleshooting
• Write secure, high-quality code in at least one programming language with limited guidance
• Design, develop, code, and troubleshoot while accounting for upstream and downstream systems and technical impacts
• Use Software Development Life Cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation
• Break down solutions and resolve technical problems of basic complexity
• Analyze large, varied data sets to identify problems and support decisions that contribute to secure, stable application development
• Learn and apply system processes, methodologies, and skills to develop secure, stable code and systems
• Encourage team adoption of approved AI-assisted engineering practices, including code review and refactoring, test acceleration, and incident or root-cause analysis support
• Establish consistent validation practices, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and promote reuse of effective approaches across the team
