Geographical Information System: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) San Diego Community College District – District Wide – Academic – Position open until filled. Pay is based on the Adjunct College Salary Schedule. Official transcripts or foreign degree evaluations are required for salary placement. The district accepts applications for adjunct positions on a continuous basis; assignments are offered as needed and applicants will be notified of fall, spring, or summer semester opportunities. Candidates must reside within commuting distance to San Diego. Major Responsibilities Teach lecture and/or lab courses in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines. Remain accessible to students outside of class time. Maintain accurate teaching records and uphold professional standards of conduct and ethics. Stay current on subject‑matter knowledge. Participate in university committees and outreach activities as needed. Create an interactive learning environment that encourages discussion of ideas and interests. Minimum Qualifications Degree(s) from a regionally accredited institution. A Bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of occupational experience related to the subject taught, or an Associate’s degree and six (6) years of occupational experience, or an equivalent combination. Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of continuing education students and staff. Desired Qualifications Ability to integrate geology, sustainability, and anthropology into courses. Knowledge of ArcGIS software and/or Python. Licenses / Credentials California Community College Instructor Credential in Earth Sciences (Geography, Geology, Geophysics), valid for life, if possessed. Pay Information Salary is based on the Adjunct College Salary Schedule and may be adjusted upon receipt of official transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluations. Initial placement is at the first class/step until official transcripts are provided.
