Overview Manager, Executive Communications - Financial Services We’re seeking an influential communicator who has experience writing high-quality and high-visibility content for executives, solving complex problems using creative communications techniques, leveraging data and technology to shape engagement strategies, and working in cross-functional teams to drive results. Responsibilities Lead internal communications strategy development for several senior leaders, drafting talking points, email updates, organizational changes and associate engagement messaging, among other initiatives Leverage data to drive improvements to internal communications channels Lead communication efforts and processes for internal divisional and associate engagement events, including recognition events Lead complex internal communications and change management campaigns Draft talking points and prep documents for executive level internal events Contribute to internal and external storytelling strategy and initiatives Partner cross-functionally on key initiatives with the ability to manage high-visibility projects, gather input from a variety of stakeholders, and drive results Openly and actively contribute as a member of the Financial Services Communications team, identifying key opportunities and taking the lead on developing solutions that address both internal and external needs Highly effective communications skills with outstanding writing abilities, including the ability to ghostwrite content in the style and voice of leaders The Ideal Candidate Will Be Detail oriented: Holds a high bar for written content and an eagle-eye for formatting/editing Storyteller: Simplify the complex and compel our audience to act Writing Chameleon: Ability to take the tone, brand and voice of various leaders and channels Customer-obsessed: Ability to deeply understand customer needs and business context, and uncover creative solutions to help achieve their goals Relationship-building: Ability to build relationships across teams and manage executive-level stakeholders Analytical problem-solver: Uses data and storytelling to influence decisions and deliver actionable recommendations that solve current engagement and communication opportunities Results oriented: Focuses on driving impact in both the short- and long-term, and is able to drive and execute an agenda end-to-end from conception through to delivery Strategic partner: Helps shape strategy and initiatives, ensures successful measurement of campaigns by aligning on metrics and measuring results Team player: Helps achieve more than the sum of our parts by collaborating effectively with others, encouraging an inclusive culture with diverse teammates and mentoring teammates Deadline driven: Ability to adhere to and set deadlines, and deliver quality work within them Basic qualifications High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification At least 6 years of experience in corporate communications, internal communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, social media management, writing, or a combination At least 3 years of experience in communication strategy development for internal communications or executive leaders At least 2 years of experience in ghostwriting Preferred qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, English or Journalism Previous experience in financial services, technology, or similar organization 8+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, marketing or writing 3+ years experience in ghostwriting 3+ years of experience editing using AP Style At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. Plano, TX: 122100 - 139400 for Communications Manager Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and or long term incentives LTI. Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
