Accounting Specialist

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with month-end and year-end close activities. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality. DOE 65-70k

Key Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Monitor customer and vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare financial reports, account analyses, and supporting schedules.
• Process employee expense reports and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation.
• Assist with audits by providing required financial information and supporting documentation.
• Support payroll processing and related reconciliations, as needed.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred

• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, or SAP.
• Knowledge of GAAP principles.
• Experience in payroll processing and reconciliations.
• Accounting certification or coursework is a plus.
