The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Byron Center seeking CNC Lathe Programmers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and write CNC programs for lathe machines using CAM software and G-code.
• Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and part models to determine optimal machining processes.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and holders, and define cutting parameters (speed, feed, depth of cut).
• Simulate and verify CNC programs to detect and resolve potential collisions, errors, or inefficiencies.
• Collaborate with machinists and engineers to troubleshoot programming issues and optimize manufacturing processes.
• Create and maintain detailed setup sheets, tool lists, and other relevant documentation for production.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance programming efficiency and part quality.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficient in G-code programming for CNC lathes.
• Demonstrated experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
• Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, and material properties.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
• Proven experience with setup and operation of CNC lathes.
• Knowledge of quality control processes and metrology tools.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Experience with CAM software beyond basic programming (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit, GibbsCAM).
• Familiarity with a variety of machine controls (e.g., Fanuc, Okuma, Haas).
• Ability to perform minor machine maintenance or troubleshooting.
• Experience with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement initiatives.
