Sales Account Manager

Sales Account Manager – Chicagoland At Air Products, this role supports manufacturing facilities in Illinois and Wisconsin, focusing on the Chicagoland area. The position is residence-based with a preferred location in the suburbs of Chicago. The Sales Account Manager leads all facets of the sales process: prospecting, preparing and presenting proposals, negotiating complex contracts, securing new business and achieving customer retention. Key Job Responsibilities Existing customer account management, managing customer relationships, customer value creation, wallet share growth, and profit management. New business development – selling portfolio of products, equipment, and services to amenable market, including new to market and competitive account prospects. Emphasis on consistent field presence and prospecting and expeditious direct marketing follow‑up. Collaborate and interact with product manager and the broader customer facing organization (commercial technology reps, customer engineering, microbulk sales reps, GenGas business development managers, etc.). Adept at working in a matrixed organization and collaborating with other sales and marketing professionals within the North Subregion and Air Products' broader organization. Excellent time management and organization skills required. Overnight travel expected for territory coverage, trade shows, and broader team meetings. Required Skills / Abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills. Superior presentation skills. Highly motivated with ability to prioritize and work independently. Works well in a collaborative dynamic team environment, with high energy level navigating challenging conversations both internally and externally. Minimum Hiring Requirements 4-year college degree in business or engineering, or equivalent experience with strong technical aptitude. 3–4 years of successfully demonstrated sales experience preferred (industrial gas experience a plus).
